{"id":8050,"date":"2013-01-14T11:08:13","date_gmt":"2013-01-14T11:08:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/velezylozano.com\/es-necesario-tratar-una-mordida-cruzada\/"},"modified":"2013-01-14T11:08:13","modified_gmt":"2013-01-14T11:08:13","slug":"it-is-necessary-to-treat-a-crossbite","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/velezylozano.com\/en\/it-is-necessary-to-treat-a-crossbite\/","title":{"rendered":"Is it necessary to treat a crossbite?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The importance of correct occlusion and the positioning of the teeth in the dental arch is a factor that, beyond the aesthetics of the smile, contributes to the correct development of the dental arches, to proper chewing and eating and also to ensuring that the temporomandibular joint (the relationship between the jaw and the rest of the skull) does not suffer excessive pressure throughout the patient's life.<\/p>\n<p>In this sense,<a href=\"https:\/\/velezylozano.com\/en\/the-clinic\/\"> early screening of children's dentition<\/a> allows the detection of multiple pathologies that can be treated even when they have primary or 'baby' teeth, thus avoiding complex surgical interventions when they are adults, and minimising the risks of facial asymmetries.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most easily treatable pathologies at an early age is the existence of an <a href=\"https:\/\/velezylozano.com\/en\/treatments\/paediatric-dentistry\/plan-atencion-dental-infantil\/\">mild crossbite<\/a>involving one or more primary teeth:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_237\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-237\" style=\"width: 239px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.velezylozano.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/mordida-cruzada.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-237\" alt=\"In a crossbite, the lower teeth occlude &#039;outside&#039;
