Many orthodontists suggest that finishing a treatment with correct occlusion is enough to prevent teeth from significantly overcrowding, but sometimes the patient wants to avoid even the slightest movement.<\/p>\n<p>In these cases, it is best to opt for a fixed retention, which can be complemented by a removable one (which will maintain the 'expansion' of the dentition achieved by orthodontics), or used individually.<\/p>\n<p>This consists of attaching a stainless steel wire - coaxial braided - to the six anterior teeth (from fang to fang), so that they are fixed to each other and the possibility of unexpected movement is minimised, thus ensuring that the teeth remain aligned for many years.<\/p>\n<p>How is it placed? The procedure is simple: with the brackets in place, the surface of the teeth is etched with acid, an adhesive is added and polymerised with a dental light.
