We describe it below in today's post.<\/p>\n<p>1. As adults, the tip of the root, which is where nutrients and innervation enter the tooth, narrows. If we have an untreated cavity, the infection deepens until it reaches the pulp, and the pulp dies.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_688\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-688\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.velezylozano.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/caries-necrosis.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-688\" alt=\"When decay reaches the nerve, root canal treatment is usually necessary.\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.velezylozano.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/caries-necrosis.jpg?resize=300%2C293&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"300\" height=\"293\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-688\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">When decay reaches the nerve, root canal treatment is usually necessary.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>4. Endodontics consists of removing this tissue to prevent it from becoming inflamed or dead, causing pain, infections, etc.<\/p>\n<p>5. The procedure consists of one or several sessions, depending on the severity of the situation.<\/p>\n<p>6. The first thing to do is to access the pulp. This is done through a small hole made through the tooth.<\/p>\n<p>7. Once everything is clean, the root canals are filled with a plastic material called gutta-percha. Finally, the entry hole is covered with a filling. Depending on the amount of decayed tissue, the dentist may advise a tooth reconstruction, or even a ceramic 'crown'.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, \"killing the nerve\" is not really \"killing the nerve\", as it is often already dead, but rather cleaning the ducts where it is located to avoid infections and pain.
