Every day there are more and more patients concerned about their health and dental aesthetics who use Invisalign. Today we want to give you some guidelines for use to keep your aligners in good condition and prevent them from getting damaged.
The aligners should be worn for 20 to 22 hours a day, as instructed by your dentist. They should only be removed for meals and drinks (unless it is cold water).
How to wash them?
To clean them, use a soft-bristled toothbrush, water and a little toothpaste. It is recommended to use the invisalign aligner system once a week and not denture cleaners as they can damage the surface of the denture, making it paler and more visible.
To wash them on the outside, it is more convenient to do it when we are wearing them and then wash the inner side.
How to place them?
First we must wash them with water. Once we differentiate the upper and lower molars, marked with "U" and "L" respectively, we will insert one of them and push slightly towards the front teeth, then we will apply the same pressure with the fingertips to the upper parts of the molars.
It is important not to bite them, otherwise we could damage them. To remove them, use your fingertips to pull gently from the last molar, then do the same on the opposite side and slowly pull them outwards.
How to store them?
Once outside, rinse them according to the procedure described above and keep them in the blue case, current stage, the orange (or red) case, past stage, will be reserved for the previous aligners when it is time to change them, they should be kept.
And we're almost there...
In addition, it is important to maintain proper oral hygiene by brushing and flossing after every meal before putting the aligners back in. If you do not have a toothbrush at hand, rinse your mouth and wash your aligners under warm running water.
Above all, it is advisable to have regular check-ups and cleanings at the dentist to keep teeth and gums healthy.
